• Keira Rees

Forever left hanging right smack dab between the Millennials and Gen Z, Keira Rees is a college school student who blogs about living all-out in spite of your limits at functionalish.com, a blog for those learning to live in the tension between what their hearts and minds aspire to and what their bodies will actually allow.

A strong and passionate leader, Keira is a gifted speaker, worship leader, and group faciliator.  She’s currently trying to decide on her college major—there are at present five on the short list. Keira loves kids and has been formally working with them since she was eleven.  A former competitive gymnast, she has taught gymnastics for preschoolers at her local community center and has worked with at-risk youth in both educational and recreational settings.  If you want to get her going, ask her about feminism, art history, philosophy, faith, make up, or cat videos.  Any of the above will elicit the same enthusiastic response.

Full of spirit and ambition, Keira is every bit of the strong, passionate, creative, independent young woman her mother prayed for.

(Her mother has regretted that prayer at various moments since. But not any longer.)

    Keira has learned first-hand

the truth of Mother Teresa’s remark, “I know God won’t give me anything more than I can handle.  I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.”

Her first official diagnoses weren’t formal until high late school, but her symptoms began limiting her life as early as fifth grade. Described as an “old soul” by many of the adults who know her best, Keira has developed, as a result of her experiences, a depth and maturity that is best seen when sharing with and encouraging others.

Keira currently lives her her spoonie roommate and muted calico ragdoll kitty, Fae.  She loves to go roller skating, play in the creek, go thrifting, make artsy stuff, put on fancy make-up, and have photo shoots with her friends.
